Jewelry Care & Maintenance
Jewelry Care & Maintenance
Your Alpha Jewelers pieces are crafted to last a lifetime. With the right care, your moissanite jewelry will continue to shine brilliantly for years to come. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your pieces looking their absolute best.
Daily Care Tips
- Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, or exercising to avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and sweat.
- Apply perfume, lotion, and hairspray before putting on your jewelry — chemicals can dull the metal's finish over time.
- Avoid wearing jewelry while doing household chores, especially when using cleaning products.
- Remove rings before washing your hands to prevent soap buildup under the stone.
Cleaning Your Moissanite Jewelry
Moissanite is highly resistant to dirt and oils, but regular cleaning will keep it sparkling like new.
At-Home Cleaning Method
- Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water in a small bowl.
- Soak your jewelry for 10–15 minutes.
- Gently scrub with a soft-bristle toothbrush, paying attention to the underside of the stone and any crevices.
- Rinse thoroughly under warm running water.
- Pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth and allow to air dry completely before storing.
What to Avoid
- ❌ Ultrasonic cleaners (can loosen prong settings over time)
- ❌ Bleach or chlorine-based cleaners
- ❌ Abrasive cloths or paper towels
- ❌ Toothpaste (too abrasive for metal finishes)
Storing Your Jewelry
- Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box to prevent scratching.
- Keep jewelry away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Store silver pieces in anti-tarnish pouches or with anti-tarnish strips to slow oxidation.
- Avoid storing jewelry in humid areas like bathrooms.
Caring for Specific Metals
Sterling Silver 925
Silver naturally tarnishes over time when exposed to air and moisture. Polish with a silver polishing cloth regularly to restore its shine. Store in an airtight bag when not in use to slow tarnishing.
Gold (10K, 14K & 18K)
Gold is very low maintenance. Clean with mild soap and warm water as needed. Higher karat gold (18K) is softer, so handle with extra care to avoid scratches.
Professional Maintenance
We recommend having your jewelry professionally inspected once a year to check for loose prongs, worn clasps, or any other issues. A jeweler can also professionally clean and polish your pieces to restore their original brilliance.
